SEO Growth Audit

Sound foundations. Leaking enquiries.

fundglobe.co.uk is built well — one H1 on every page, 15 schema types, desktop Lighthouse 94. But the “Speak to us” button on 22 pages opens a 404, the server turns ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity crawlers away with a 403, no analytics runs on any page, and none of 14 live AI answers to UK business-finance questions names Funding Globe.

Overall Score59 / 100

The product pages are right. The library behind them is 10 posts deep.

Editorial URLs counted from each site’s XML sitemap on 16 October 2026. iwoca, Fleximize and WestWon are the UK lenders that recur in sampled searches for VAT, tax-bill and working-capital funding — the same products Funding Globe sells.

None of the 10 blog posts links to the product it explains. “Lending against digital assets” never links to /digital-assets/; “What Is a Working Capital Loan?” (210 words) never links to /business-finance/working-capital/. Each post is reachable from exactly one page — the blog index — so the authority it earns never reaches the pages that take applications.

Ask an AI who lends against a VAT bill. Funding Globe isn’t in the answer.

We asked two AI engines with live web search (Grok and GPT, 16 October 2026) seven questions a UK business owner would ask — VAT loans, HMRC bills, bridging, debt sales, digital-asset lending, working capital, asset-backed loans. Fourteen answers. The score below combines that with five signals read directly from your site and the open web, weighted to 100.

VerifiedDirectly observed: your page code, robots and sitemap files, or a live server response. Artifact on file.

Invisible to AI answers

The on-page groundwork is good — valid schema, clean headings. What sinks the score is access and presence: the server refuses the crawlers that ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity send, and there is no review or community footprint for those engines to cite instead. In all 14 answers, the lenders named were others.

The server answers GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot with “403 Forbidden” — while robots.txt says Allow: /. Googlebot and Bingbot get through. iwoca, Fleximize and WestWon all return 200 to the same three AI crawlers. This is a server rule, not a content problem, and it is a configuration fix rather than a rebuild. Verified

Current SEO health: 59 out of 100

Twelve weighted dimensions scored from a full crawl of all 56 sitemap pages, Lighthouse mobile and desktop runs, live server tests, and sitemap crawls of three competitors. Hard caps applied where a single defect limits a whole dimension.

59out of 100

Well built, under-wired

The build quality is real: metadata, headings, schema and desktop speed are all in good shape. The score is pulled down by plumbing — zero analytics, phone buttons that 404, links that route through duplicate index.html URLs, a slow mobile hero — and by a content library a fraction of the size of the lenders AI engines cite.

1 H1 on 56/56 pages 15 schema types Desktop Lighthouse 94 Named authors Phone CTA 404 on 22 pages No analytics AI crawlers blocked Mobile LCP 4.8s
Indexation and Crawlability73
Sitemap lists all 56 URLs (plus /404.html and /payments/thanks/); robots allows all; every page self-canonical, but 5,300 of 5,391 internal links point to /index.html twins that also return 200.
Metadata and SERP Presentation67
Unique titles and descriptions on all 56 pages and exactly one H1 each; 20 titles exceed 70 characters and 34 descriptions exceed 160.
Structured Data and AI Readiness76
15 JSON-LD types, 0 parse errors: Answer, Article, BlogPosting, BreadcrumbList, Country, FAQPage, FinancialService, ImageObject, ListItem, OpeningHoursSpecification, Organization, Person, PostalAddress, Question, Service. AI crawlers receive HTTP 403.
Performance and Core Web Vitals50
Desktop Lighthouse 94-95. Mobile homepage 74 with LCP 4.8s (simulated); CLS 0.001 and TBT 0 ms are clean. Capped at 50 by the mobile LCP.
Mobile UX and Accessibility60
Viewport, tap targets and font sizes pass; Lighthouse accessibility 90-94. Capped at 60 because mobile homepage LCP exceeds 4s.
Content Business Value69
Average business-value score 69 across the homepage, 18 product/hub pages and 10 blog posts. Product pages lack case-study proof; posts lack links to the product they discuss.
Search Demand and Intent Coverage61
7 of 12 tracked buyer topics have a dedicated page; 4 are thin and debt valuation has no page at all.
Internal Linking and Architecture41
Clear hubs (business finance, sell us your debt, digital assets), but 0 of 10 posts link in-body to a product page, 33 internal links hit 404s, and 100 anchors read “More” or “Learn more”.
Conversion Readiness63
Homepage scores 80 (hero CTAs, phone, guided form). Bridging and debt-sale pages score 55: no CTA in the first mobile screen and the phone button opens a 404.
Local Trust and E-E-A-T78
Companies House number, full Leeds address, named directors with Person schema and bylined posts. No third-party review profile was found.
Competitive Gap41
10 blog posts against 443 (iwoca), 728 (Fleximize) and 1,305 (WestWon); iwoca and Fleximize show Trustpilot on the homepage.
Analytics and Measurement0
No analytics or tag-manager script on any of the 56 pages; enquiry forms post to Formspree with no conversion tracking.

What is already working for Funding Globe

These are worth protecting. Everything in this report builds on them rather than replacing them.

Strength

A clean technical skeleton

All 56 sitemap pages return 200 with a self-referencing canonical, exactly one H1, a unique title and description, and complete Open Graph tags. 243 of 244 images carry alt text.

Strength

Structured data on every page

FinancialService markup with the Horsforth address, opening hours and a Companies House sameAs on every page; Service and FAQPage on the seven business-finance products; BlogPosting with named Person authors. 15 distinct schema types, zero parse errors.

Strength

Real people, real deals

Three directors with their own profile pages, every blog post bylined and linked to its author, eight case studies including Hamilton Academical FC, plus a plain-English FCA disclosure and complaints procedure. That is the expertise signal search engines and AI answers look for.

Plug the leaks, then out-publish the lenders AI already cites

Ordered by impact: the first three recover enquiries the site already earns; the last three widen the set of searches and AI answers Funding Globe can appear in.

01
Conversion

Make the phone button dial

On 22 pages — every business-finance product, all four debt-sale pages, all six digital-asset pages, three case studies, guides and payments — “Speak to us” or “Call a director” points at ../../tel:01134601437/index.html. A buyer who taps it lands on “Page not found”. The email buttons on all three director profiles and /payments/ fail the same way.

02
AI search

Let ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity read the site

Lift the server rule that returns 403 to GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot, then publish an llms.txt that points to the product, debt-sale and digital-asset hubs. Until then every AI answer about UK business lending is written from competitors’ pages.

03
Measurement

Install analytics before scaling anything

No analytics or tag manager runs on any of the 56 pages, and enquiries post straight to Formspree with no conversion event. The cookie notice already says Plausible or Fathom may be used; neither is installed. Add GA4 (or Plausible) with form-submit and phone-click events so every later change can be judged.

04
Content

Turn 10 posts into clusters around each product

Link every post to the product it discusses, rebuild the two 210- and 254-word working-capital posts into one strong guide, and add the pages buyers ask for that do not exist yet: what a commercial debt is worth, corporation-tax loans, short-term business loans, and revenue-based funding for ecommerce and SaaS.

05
Proof

Put the case studies next to the products

Eight case studies exist, but none of the 18 product and hub pages links to one, and no third-party review profile surfaced in brand searches. iwoca and Fleximize both show Trustpilot on their homepages. Proof beside the “Apply now” button is what turns a reader into an enquiry.

06
Schema

Extend Service and FAQ markup to debt and digital assets

The four debt-sale and six digital-asset pages already show FAQ accordions on the page but carry no FAQPage or Service markup — the seven business-finance pages do. Matching them, and adding a WebSite entity, gives search and AI engines the same clean read across all three hubs.

10 → 60
Blog target for the first two quarters (aspirational). Not iwoca-scale on day one — a focused library of buyer-intent articles, each linked to the VAT, HMRC, bridging, debt-sale or digital-asset page it supports.

One-time fixes, not a rebuild

Most of these are a few lines in the site templates. Together they recover the calls, the measurement and the AI access the current build is missing.

!
Repair the phone and email links — 22 pages use ../../tel:01134601437/index.html and four email buttons use a relative ../mailto: path; both resolve to 404 pages. Change them to plain tel: and mailto: links. Covered in this plan.
!
Stop returning 403 to AI crawlers — GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot are refused at the server although robots.txt allows them. Whitelist them in the server or firewall rule. Covered in this plan.
!
Install analytics with conversion events — 0 of 56 pages load any analytics script. Add GA4 or Plausible, plus events for form submits and phone clicks, and complete the Search Console and Bing verification tags left as empty placeholders in the homepage head. Covered in this plan.
!
Point internal links at the clean URLs — 5,300 of 5,391 internal links go to /…/index.html twins that also return 200. Link to the canonical /…/ form and 301 the twins so every link signal lands on one URL. Covered in this plan.
!
Redirect three legacy URLs — /contact-us/, /hamilton-academical-football-club/ and /matchmaking-company-case-study/ return 404 but are still linked from a blog post and a case study. Fix the links and 301 the old paths to their new homes. Covered in this plan.
!
Clean the sitemap — Remove /404.html (which itself returns 200) and /payments/thanks/ from sitemap.xml and mark both noindex; add lastmod dates to the 56 URLs. Covered in this plan.
!
Bring mobile LCP under 2.5s — Homepage mobile LCP is 4.8s in Lighthouse. Resize hero-home.webp (233 KB, 179 KB saving available) and stop Google Fonts and main.css blocking first paint (est. 1.7s). Covered in this plan.
!
Tighten titles and descriptions — 20 titles run past 70 characters and 34 descriptions past 160; the three legal pages use their title as the description. Rewrite to fit the results page. Covered in this plan.
!
Replace 100 generic anchors — 56 “More” and 44 “Learn more” links tell search engines nothing; Lighthouse flags it as the only SEO audit failure. Covered in this plan.
✓
Headings, canonicals and Open Graph are right — One H1, a self-canonical and full OG tags on all 56 pages. Keep them as pages are added.
✓
Desktop speed and layout stability are strong — Desktop Lighthouse 94-95 with LCP 1.2-1.4s; CLS 0.001 and TBT 0 ms on mobile.

Growth Complete: fix the plumbing, then build the library

Recommended: Growth Complete — $1,299/mo ($12,990/yr billed annually). The phone links, AI-crawler block, missing analytics, duplicate URLs and mobile speed are code-level work, and Growth Complete is the plan that covers it. If your own developer will handle Track B, Growth Pro at $999/mo covers Track A alone.

Track A — Content, Local & Social

Own the questions borrowers and debt sellers ask

Included in Growth Complete (and in Growth Pro).
Week 1-2
Link all 10 existing posts to their product pages; merge the two thin working-capital posts into one guide.
Week 3-4
New pages for commercial-debt valuation, corporation-tax loans and short-term business loans; case-study proof blocks on the VAT, HMRC and bridging pages.
Month 2
Topic clusters for VAT & HMRC funding, bridging, debt sales and digital-asset lending, including revenue-based ecommerce and SaaS funding.
Ongoing
Up to 100 articles a month, 15 Google Business Profile posts a month for the Horsforth office, daily review responses, social distribution and a monthly strategy call.
Track B — Technical SEO

Make every page callable, crawlable and measured

Covered in this plan (Growth Complete includes Website Managed technical SEO).
Day 1
Repair the tel: and mailto: links on 25 pages; lift the 403 rule for AI crawlers.
Day 2
Analytics with form-submit and phone-click events; Search Console and Bing verification.
Day 3-4
Clean internal links to canonical URLs, 301 the index.html twins and three legacy URLs, tidy the sitemap.
Day 5-7
Hero image and font loading for mobile LCP; Service and FAQPage markup on 10 pages; WebSite entity; llms.txt.
Verify
Re-run Lighthouse and the crawler-access test; confirm every CTA dials or opens mail.
